Why Add Amboise to Your France Itinerary

There is no doubt that you will find no better place to feel the pure aristocratic spirit of good old France than the stunning Loire Valley. Set in the central part of the country, the area is a real magnet for aesthetes as it is known for its plethora of gorgeous palaces and castles (the Loire Valley houses about 300 of them!).

The best place to start your Loire Valley exploration is by going on an Amboise tour, this lovely historic town is set on the banks of the River Loire.

The city became popular as a place for negotiations of kings and as a home to the Royal Château d'Amboise. The castle (actually it was the first castle built of the territory of the Valley) represents a mighty beautiful fortress which has served as a favored royal residence since the 15th century. The Royal Château d'Amboise, majestically dominating the town, offers simply breathtaking views over the surroundings which can become a nice accent during your Amboise sightseeing. What is more, this very city was the place where the genius artist Leonardo da Vinci finished his most recognizable work, Mona Lisa. So yes, this is how special the castle is!

In case you would like to admire more architectural miracles of the Loire Valley, you have a unique opportunity to get an insight of more famous Loire castles during your Amboise walking tour by visiting the Mini Castle Park with about 50 miniature models.

The Old Town of Amboise is quite traditional and compact but no less charming as well. One of the interesting locations worth visiting is the petite Saint Hubert Chapel as it is the site where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried.

Have a walk along the town's narrow streets, witness medieval churches and the tower of the Town Hall, pop in a small family restaurant near the quay and let the wave of inspiration came over.
