Why Visit Casablanca, Morocco

Casablanca is the economical capital of Morocco, a mix of the old and the new, and one of the largest financial centers on the African continent.

For those wondering where is Casablanca Morocco, the city is set on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in the north-western part of the country. Being Morocco's major port, the city is even rumored to be a former pirate lair.

Like in any modern city there are many fast food chains, nightclubs, and shopping venues, resulting in the lifestyle of the locals being quite cosmopolitan.

Casablanca citizens are more tolerant and open to European traditions, which can be easily traced in the way they dress and spend their free time.

Nevertheless, the town is much more than just a regular metropolis with large industrial facilities. It boasts numerous stunning restored French colonial buildings, found mostly in the Place Mohammed V Square (a must-visit for all Casablanca tours), and the Casablanca city center's mind-boggling authentic old town.

Among the main highlights that shouldn't be missed during Casablanca travel is the treasured Hassan II Mosque - the largest mosque on Earth. Designed by the French architect Michel Pinseau, it was built in 1993 and is a result of the hard work of about 6000 Moroccan artisans.

The mosque stands on a promontory near the shore and is famous for its marble floors, reflecting the surroundings like a mirror. It can encompass up to 100000 worshipers at a time and has the tallest (210-meter) minaret in the world.

The Hassan II Mosque is recognized by its intricate mosaics and magnificent interior and exterior decorations.
