Another Russian gem and a significant stop of the Golden Ring route is the city of Yaroslavl situated at the confluence of Volga and Kotorosl Rivers. Being the oldest city on the renowned route, it is famous for its monumental heritage and authentic architecture. 

One of the best examples of beautiful architecture is the imposing Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior. The UNESCO-listed site includes the Holy Gate and Cathedral of the Transfiguration featuring a bell tower, which can be climbed to admire some astonishing sceneries over the city. The monastery itself was founded in the 12th century and currently displays numerous exhibitions and artifacts.

One more exceptional monument on Yaroslavl itinerary is the St. John the Baptist Church, which is actually the biggest one in the entire city. Dating back to the 17th century, it's picturesque exterior features 15 green domes, however, the interior is not less impressive, housing some a stunning collection of frescoes.

The Yaroslavl tour is also full of exceptional museums, such as the Museum of Music and Time, offering a collection of musical instruments, gramophones, and other sound related items, which add up to one truly unforgettable concert.
