Visit The Royal Palace in Stockholm
The Royal Palace is the official residence of His Majesty the King of Sweden, located on Stadsholmen (city island) in the Old Town of Stockholm.
The Palace is open to the public and offers no less than five museums, so you can surely get a slice of Swedish history by adding it to your Stockholm itinerary. With over 600 rooms divided between 7 floors, it takes you through the Swedish royal family and their history.
The architecture is impressive - the palace was largely built during the 18th century in the Italian Baroque style by the architect Nicodemus Tessin. There are many interesting things to in addition to the Royal Apartments - the three impressive museums: the Treasury with the regalia, the Tre Kronor Museum that portrays the palaces medieval history and Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities. It also contains the Armory, with royal costumes and armor.
And don't miss the changing of the guards ceremony, it has been a daily tradition since 1523.
