Situated nearby Lake Issyk-Kul, the small resort town of Cholpon Ata should not be excluded from your Kyrgyzstan itinerary. Deserted during winter months yet bustling during summertime, the town provides with some truly picturesque landscapes throughout the year.

A must-see while on Cholpon Ata tour is the site of Cholpon Ata Petroglyphs with numerous drawings of animals and other themes depicted on rocks, making it seem like an open-air museum. Formerly used for sacrifices and rituals honoring the Gods, the site is a unique stop on the Cholpon Ata itinerary, as some of the pieces date back to the Bronze Age even. 

While in the city, make sure to explore the museum scene to get to know more about the culture and the history of the region. The Nomad Museum is one of the best ways to do just that, however, so is the Regional Museum, thus don't miss the chance to visit them both. 

Another significant point of Cholpon Ata sightseeing is the Hippodrome, an open-air stadium used for concerts and other events, such as the World Nomad Games taking place every two years.
