Argentina went beyond our expectations. Buenos Aires is a chaotic paradise, and the guides really knew their stuff. Comfy hotels were a bonus after a day of exploring.

What to pack

Argentina’s diverse climates require adaptable clothing. Pack light layers for varying weather conditions, including a jacket for cooler evenings.

How much to tip

Tipping is customary in Argentina. Leave about 10% of the bill at restaurants, unless service is included.

Currency

The official currency is the Argentine Peso (ARS). ATMs are widely available, but carry some cash for smaller establishments that may not accept cards.

When to travel

The best times to visit Argentina are during spring (September to November) and fall (March to May) when the weather is mild, and the landscapes are vibrant. December to February is ideal for visiting Patagonia, but it can be hot and humid in Buenos Aires and the north. June to August is great for skiing in the Andes, but some southern regions can be very cold.

Climate

Argentina’s climate varies from subtropical in the north to polar in the far south. Expect hot summers and cool winters in the central region, with a mix of climates in between.

Food

Asado: Argentina is famous for its barbecue, wines and pastries. Don't miss trying these traditional meals: Asado, Empanadas, Dulce de Leche and local wines.
