Day Trip to Donegal and Derry City Tour & Dinner

Your day begins in Derry, where you’ll set out in the morning with your private driver-guide for a scenic journey into County Donegal. The drive takes you northwest through the striking landscapes of the Irish borderlands, arriving mid-morning at Glenveagh National Park. 

Here, you’ll explore the dramatic scenery of the Derryveagh Mountains and visit Glenveagh Castle, a 19th-century estate nestled along the shores of Lough Veagh. There’s time for a peaceful walk through the castle gardens and perhaps a coffee at the park’s visitor centre before continuing on.

From Glenveagh, you’ll travel south to Donegal Town for a short visit. You can take time to stroll through the quaint town center or take a brief look at the exterior of the historic Donegal Castle, enjoying the local charm and scenery.

In the mid-afternoon, you’ll return to Derry, arriving in time for a privately guided walking tour of the city. You next stop at the famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge - the exhilarating crossing that connects the mainland to Carrick-a-Rede Island. You can take a walk across it (own expense) and try hard not to look down at the 100-feet (30-meter) drop!

Then you proceed to the Dark Hedges road - Northern Irish filming location that was used in the award-winning 'Game of Thrones'.
