Visit the Oslo City Hall (Oslo radhus)
The building of the Oslo City Hall is one of the most popular places in the capital of Norway.
It houses the city council, city administration, art studios with galleries, and is located in the city center, within a short distance from both, the waterfront and the Opera House.
Built in the Functionalist architectural style, the exterior of the imposing building might seem stark at first, however, it is definitely worth admiring from inside.
The interior artwork is a marvel! It captures some of the cultural aspects of Norway and the local area. The interiors are very grand and beautiful with marble staircases and paintings and murals. Both the big central hall, as well as the surrounding rooms, are nicely decorated with modernist paintings as well.
The City Hall also features two towers, one of which has an impressive 49-bell carillon. You can hear the sound of the bells every hour.
Moreover, this is the place where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held annually, making the City Hall in Oslo even more famous and worth adding to your sightseeing plans.
