Kazbegi National Park, Georgia

Kazbegi National Park is located on the northern slopes of the mighty Caucasus range. It protects the area of over 8,700 hectares of land. Many outdoor activities are popular here such as climbing, riding and trekking. The region is famous for its beautiful mountain views. One of the most symbolic attractions is the 5,047 meters high Kazbegi Mountain, the third highest in Georgia. According to Greek mythology and Georgian stories, this is the place where the legendary Titan Prometheus was chained.

The town of Stepantsminda (also called Kazbegi) itself is a charming and wonderful base camp for exploring the region further. The picturesque Gergeti Trinity Church is a local landmark.
