The Splendid Market Place in Brussels

One of the main stops of any Brussels itinerary is the magnificent Market Place. Situated in the heart of the city, the location was formerly used to trade goods and is now a major tourist attraction in the city, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

City Hall

Also known by the name of Grand Place, the square is encircled by exceptional examples of lavish architecture, some of them dating back to the 15th century. The splendid City Hall is one of them, featuring intricately decorated walls and an imposing spire, topped by a statue of the archangel Saint-Michael.

King's House

Facing the City Hall stands another significant building on the site, the King's House. Featuring a royal exterior, it is currently open as the City Museum, attracting a growing number of visitors each year.

Display of flower carpets

Another attraction drawing people to the Market Place is the unique display of flower carpets taking place every two years. Dating back to the 1950s, the beautiful tradition occupies the entire Grand Place, leaving the spectators in awe with its colorful floral patterns.

Don't miss the chance to stroll around one of the most scenic squares in Europe or take a quick coffee break, enjoying its authentic ambiance. Whichever you choose, the Market Place is a must-visit while in Brussels!
