Creation history
The main feature of the Arktikum museum is the building, which was designed by Danish architects and is made in the form of a half-arch. Opened in 1997, it is oriented to the north and symbolizes the way to the Arctic: you will walk 172 meters of the way, looking at exhibits telling about life in polar latitudes, and then will find yourself on the bank of the amazing Ounasjoki River.
The exposition of Arktikum
The exhibition of the Regional Museum of Lapland entitled "Northern Crafts" tells about the nature, culture, and history of the city of Rovaniemi and the northern part of Lapland. Here guests of the Center will be able to see the costumes of local residents, models of wooden buildings of the past and get acquainted with the peculiarities of reindeer husbandry.
