Learn about the magnificent Blair Castle

Throughout Scotland's history, Blair Castle has played an important role as the ancestral seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. After being besieged twice by Cromwell's army in 1652 and by the Jacobites in 1746, just before the final defeat at Culloden, the castle was captured by the Jacobites in 1746. A number of royals have also stayed here.

Blair Castle was one of the first historic houses in Britain to open its doors to the public in 1936. Despite a brief interruption during World War II, it has continued to open its doors to visitors ever since. Today, it is the most visited private house in Scotland. Today's visitor finds plenty to enjoy at Blair Castle.
