Established by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine back in the 18th century, it opened its doors as an additional facility for students of the Academy of Fine Arts. With the collections of artwork growing bigger rapidly, it eventually turned into a gallery.
Most of the exhibits were gathered by the Medici family who received a huge part of it from the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The one-of-a-kind displays present some of the most prominent pieces dating hundreds of years back.
