Discover The Holy Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque in Turkey

The Holy Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque is a place that has many names: Hagia Sophia, Turkish Ayasofya, Latin Sancta Sophia, also called Church of the Holy Wisdom or Church of the Divine Wisdom. The mosque is deservedly an important Byzantine structure in Istanbul and one of the world's great monuments with its innovative architecture, rich history, religious significance and extraordinary characteristics. It is also the oldest cathedral in the world, built in the same location three times. One of the world's wonders of the history of architecture, it has monolithic marble columns and unprecedented mosaics, like those hanging in the air. 

The construction of the church began in 532 AD by Emperor Justinian, and it took about five years to build. About 11,000 men were involved in building this masterpiece, and it was officially developed in 537 AD. Hagia Sophia's dome is 55 meters high and 31 meters wide and was considered a revolution in architecture at the time. Four minarets constructed during the Ottoman period surround the dome today.
