The National Museum is the largest one of cultural history in Denmark. Ancient animal skeletons, Viking treasures, Renaissance artifacts, the museum has it all!
Explore the history of Denmark from prehistoric times through the Viking era and Middle Ages all the way up to modern Denmark. And it's all free!
Built in an 18th century Prince’s Palace the museum still features some of the segments from the original building, such as the oak parquet floor or the ceiling. It is located at the center of Copenhagen and possesses exhibits from all around the world, from many cultures and different time periods.
It has a very large ethnographic collection, a collection of classical and near eastern antiquities, a coin- and medal collection, and even a toy museum. We'd say it's a real must-see as here you can get a glimpse at Danish history.
The National Museum also presents the Victorian apartment Klunkehjemmet, featuring the authentic interior of late-Victorian style, with furniture arranged the same way as it originally was in a Victorian home.
