Blenheim Palace & Oxford Tour
Today after a delicious breakfast at your hotel you meet your guide-driver and embark on yet another adventure. Today you visit Blenheim Palace which was built in the early 18th Century to celebrate victory over the French in the War of the Spanish Succession. In particular, it was built as a gift to the 1st Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill, the military commander who led the Allied forces in the Battle of Blenheim on 13th August 1704. Marlborough himself received the surrender from Marshall Tallard, leader of the French forces, following the battle. To honor the Duke’s heroic victories, Queen Anne granted his family this palace. After exploring the palace, you continue onto Oxford - 'City of Dreaming Spires'. Oxford is famous for being home to the oldest university in the English speaking world – countless bright young minds have wandered the town’s cobbled streets over the years! During this guided walking tour you see the highlights of this city, including the stunning Bodleian Library. After the tour, you return to your London hotel.
