Sunrise at Angkor Wat & Other Temples

Today you travel back in time while immersing yourself in Cambodian historical heritage. Early in the morning, you meet your private guide and driver and have a 30-minute drive to the mesmerizing Angkor Wat, which you get to see in the first rays of the rising sun.

  • Please note: the tour starts at 5-5.30 am to avoid the heat of sunlight and the tourist crowds which often occur in the day time. Breakfast boxes are provided for this tour.

Your exploration starts with the incomparable architectural masterpiece, the UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat Temple. This outstanding religious complex was constructed in the 12th century by the ruler Suryavarman II and featured several temples dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu. During the tour around the largest temple that can be found onsite, you see the remnants of the powerful civilization. Moreover, Angkor Wat is one of the biggest religious complexes on the planet, extending on a territory of over 200 sqm (2 153 sqft)!

Then you continue the charming city of Angkor Thom, another popular attraction of the Siem Reap province. Your discovery of this iconic landmark begins with the South Gate, which is richly decorated with figures and unique relics. You also visit the 12th-century marvelous temple of Bayon, the center of Angkor Thom. Built-in honor of a Buddhist king, this sacred stone giant is believed to be the meeting place of heaven and earth. While exploring the exterior of the temple, you get to see the enormous well-preserved stone faces carved on its walls.

Among other places you visit today are the well-known terraces, including the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King, as well as the pyramid-shaped temple called Ta Keo, translated as the Jewel of Crystal. You leave the Angkor Thom complex through the North Gate and, before finishing your tour with a visit to the magnificent Preah Khan Temple, you also pop in the Ta Prohm Temple.

After the 8-hour tour, you return to the hotel and the rest of the day is free.

Breakfast is included.
