Today is a free day to relax and prepare for your Camino Portugués Coastal pilgrimage, the last 100 km to Santiago de Compostela. If you would like to receive the Compostela certificate at the end of your journey, you will need to obtain a Pilgrim Passport (Credencial) before you start walking.

Vigo - Arcade
Today marks the first day of your Camino journey—good luck as you begin this meaningful walk! The route will take you along the scenic coastline, offering beautiful sea views as you make your way forward.
You are heading to the charming fishing village of Arcade, your final destination for today. Take your time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and coastal atmosphere as you walk.

Today, reward yourself with some well-deserved rest. If you still have plenty of energy, don’t miss the opportunity to try its famous oysters, a local specialty.

Arcade - Pontevedra
Today, you continue your Camino journey as you leave Arcade and head toward Pontevedra. You will cross the Verdugo River over Ponte Sampaio, the site where Napoleon’s army suffered one of its greatest defeats in Galicia.
From Ponte Sampaio, the Camino continues along a cobbled road, leading pilgrims to the 13th-century Church of Santa María, where you can enjoy magnificent views over the Bay of Vigo as you walk toward Pontevedra.

Reaching Pontevedra
Welcome to Pontevedra, a historic city known for its beautiful old town, pedestrian-friendly streets, and lively plazas! This is your final destination for today. You can take some time to rest, explore the city, or enjoy a local café.

Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis
Today, starting in the city of Pontevedra, the Camino will take you through chestnut groves and pine and eucalyptus woods. In the village of Ponte Cabras, take a minute to admire the rectory of Santa María de Alba. At Lombo da Maceira you will spot a statue of Saint James with his walking stick, showing pilgrims the way. On your way to Caldas de Reis you will pass the hamlet of Tivo with its lovely fountain and public washing area.

Duration: 6-7 hours of hiking
Reaching Caldas de Reis
Welcome to Caldas de Reis, a charming spa town famous for its natural hot springs and relaxing atmosphere! This is your final destination for today. You can take some time to rest, enjoy a warm soak, or explore the town’s quaint streets and local cafés.

Caldas de Reis - Padron
From the spa town of Caldas de Reis, the Camino Portugués takes you across the river Umia and the hot springs that have given the town its name since Roman times. The Camino trail takes you once again to forests, gradually climbing to the village of Santa Mariña. After a descent you will cross the river Fontenlo before making your way through pine forests to today’s final destination: the town of Padrón.
Distance: 16 km
Duration: 4-5 hours of hiking
Reaching Padron
Welcome to Padrón, the town believed to be the arrival point of the body of Saint James when it was brought to Santiago de Compostela by ship. This is your final destination for today. You can take some time to rest, explore the town, or enjoy a local café, preparing for the final stage of your pilgrimage.

Padron - Santiago de Compostela
Today marks the final stage of your pilgrimage. Leaving Padrón, the place where the remains of Saint James are believed to have first arrived in Galicia, you will make your final ascent toward Santiago de Compostela. The trail guides you through small villages, woodlands, and peaceful countryside until the spires of the Cathedral finally come into view.

You’ve completed the last 100 km of the Camino Portugués Coastal Route, following in the footsteps of centuries of pilgrims. Take a moment to celebrate your achievement in the Praza do Obradoiro, standing before the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago. Whether you choose to attend the Pilgrim’s Mass, collect your Compostela certificate, or simply rest and reflect, this is a moment to be proud of.
