Free Day — Explore Beyond the Resort
Today is entirely yours to enjoy at your own pace. While Cancún's beaches and warm Caribbean waters are always a pleasure, the city offers more than its resort reputation suggests — and today is a good opportunity to explore a different side of it.
Start with a visit to the Mayan Museum of Cancún — one of the most important archaeological museums in southeast Mexico, housing an impressive collection of Mayan artefacts from across the Yucatán Peninsula. Adjacent to the museum, the El Rey Archaeological Zone offers a peaceful walk through the ruins of a genuine Mayan settlement right in the heart of the Hotel Zone — a quietly rewarding experience that most visitors overlook entirely.
For those who prefer to spend the day by the water, the beaches of the Hotel Zone are among the finest on the Caribbean coast, and the local restaurant scene offers a solid introduction to Yucatecan cuisine — fresh seafood, cochinita pibil, and regional specialities are well represented along the waterfront.
Chichén Itzá & Transfer to Mérida — An Epic Welcome to the Yucatán
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and set off westward into the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula — beginning your journey to Mérida with one of the most awe-inspiring stops imaginable.
En route, you will visit Chichén Itzá — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your expert guide will lead you through this magnificent ancient city, where the iconic El Castillo pyramid (Temple of Kukulcán) dominates the landscape with its remarkable astronomical precision. Explore the Temple of Warriors, the Great Ball Court — the largest in Mesoamerica — and the Sacred Cenote, where offerings to the Maya gods were cast into the depths. Along the way, your guide will bring the history, astronomy, and architectural genius of the Maya civilisation vividly to life.
After the tour, stop for a well-earned lunch at a local restaurant (not included) featuring regional Yucatecan specialities before continuing the journey westward to Mérida.

Free Day in Mérida - Explore, Relax, and Savor Yucatán
After several days of structured exploration, today is a welcome opportunity to follow your own curiosity through one of Mexico's most liveable cities.
Consider a visit to the Museo Regional de Antropología (Palacio Cantón) — housed in one of the grandest mansions on Paseo de Montejo, its collection covers the full sweep of Mayan civilisation from pre-Classic times to the Spanish conquest, and is one of the most important regional museums in Mexico. Nearby, the Monumento a la Patria — a dramatic circular bas-relief sculpture depicting the entire history of Mexico — is a striking and often overlooked landmark worth seeking out.
For a more local experience, the Barrio de Santa Ana and Barrio de Santa Lucía offer a quieter, more residential side of the city — shaded plazas, neighbourhood cantinas, and artisan workshops where henequén crafts and traditional clothing are still produced by hand. On Sunday evenings, the Plaza Santa Lucía hosts a free traditional Yucatecan music and dance performance that is genuinely beloved by locals and visitors alike.
Departure - Farewell to the Yucatán
On the final morning of your journey, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your driver transfers you to the Mérida airport (MID).
