Seven historic towns, one legendary river — this journey traces the Rhine at a gentle, unhurried pace, where every stop reveals another layer of Central Europe's imperial past. Aboard MS "VistaRio," glide from Düsseldorf's modern skyline to the fortress towns of Koblenz and Andernach, pausing along the way in Mannheim, birthplace of the automobile, and the fairy-tale streets of Rüdesheim. Cross briefly into France to wander Strasbourg's UNESCO-listed old town, then drift past the cathedral spires of Speyer and Mainz, where emperors once walked. A celebratory Captain's Dinner on the final night rounds out a cruise built for travelers who want to see it all without ever feeling rushed.
