Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrival in Copenhagen

Welcome to the historical "harbor of merchants" and the outstanding capital of Denmark - Copenhagen! Your private driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your centrally located hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free so you can start exploring the magnificent city center on your own, dine in one of the local restaurants or take a good rest in your comfortable room.

Recommended evening activity: Visit to the Royal Danish Opera House.

Day 2: Copenhagen City Tour

After breakfast you meet your guide and enjoy a panoramic walking tour of Copenhagen. Transfers are not included. Public transport or private transfer if needed should be paid on spot.

During the tour you walk through the beautiful canal district, enjoy the views of the City Hall and Christiansborg Palace that is home to the Danish Parliament, stroll across Kongens Nytorv and see the buildings of the Old Stock Exchange and the Royal Theater (no entrances included).

The highlight of the tour is a visit to the colorful harbor of Nyhavn where you see the gorgeous Amalienborg Palace - the winter residence of the Royal Family (from the outside). Then you proceed to the Rosenborg Castle where you witness the famous Changing of the Royal Guard ceremony.

Note: From September to April the Changing of the Royal Guard ceremony is held at the Amalienborg Palace.

This day is crowned with a visit to the Gefion Fountain and the symbol of Copenhagen - the world-famous Little Mermaid statue, inspired by a H. C. Andersen's fairy tale.

Optional tour: The second part of the day is devoted to a trip to the Kronborg Castle. It is most famous as the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet. In 5 hours your experienced guide unveils the castle's best kept secrets.

Day 3: Free Day in Copenhagen - optional or heritage activities

This day is free for you to continue exploring fantastic Copenhagen attractions on your own or take one of our optional day tours. If you prefer to spend the whole day in Copenhagen we recommend an evening visit to the famous Carlsberg Brewery for a traditional beer tasting.

Optional tour #1: Trip to Stevns Klint

Your private driver meets you at the lobby and transfers you to the Stevns Klint - a beautiful white chalk cliff on the Danish island of Zealand.

In 8 hours your professional guide shows you around and takes you on a tour of the Cold War Museum located in a secret fortress built in 1953 and opened to the public in 2008. You see a large exhibition of military equipment and explore a tangled web of tunnels, living quarters and command centers - a total of 1.6 km in length.

Optional tour #2: Trip to Roskilde

Take a morning train to Roskilde located on the Danish island of Zealand (transfer to the train station is not included).

Upon arrival your private guide takes you on a walking city tour that includes entrances to the Viking Ship museum and Roskilde Cathedral. After exploring Roskilde for 4 hours you board a train back to Copenhagen.

Day 4: Odense City Tour

After breakfast you check out from your hotel and go to the railway station where you board a train that takes you to Odense - the birthplace of the famous Danish fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen (train tickets are included).

Upon arrival to Odense you go to your hotel for check-in. Transfer from the train station is not included. You can book a taxi or take a public transport. Private transfer is available on request.

After having some rest you meet your private guide and enjoy a 3-hour walking tour around this beautiful city. Odense translates as 'Odin’s shrine' and surely has been blessed by the chief Nordic god of war, poetry and wisdom. It is the 3rd largest city of modern Denmark and offers numerous historic attractions from Viking castles to ancient churches and notable museums.numerous historic attractions from Viking castles to ancient churches and notable museums.

The highlight of the tour is a visit to the Hans Christian Andersen Museum where you will learn more about the writer’s life, artistic career and his many journeys.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 5: Esbjerg City Tour

Following breakfast you check out from your hotel and go to the railway station where you board a train that takes you to a seaport town of Esbjerg (train tickets are included). Transfers to and from the train station are not included. You can book a taxi or take a public transport. Private transfer is available on request.

Upon arrival you go to your hotel for check-in. After having some rest you meet your guide and enjoy a 4-hour walking city tour around the most interesting Esbjerg attractions.

During the tour you visit the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, see a 30-feet tall Men at Sea Monument and enjoy bird and deer watching at the captivating Vognbol Park.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 6:  Aarhus City Tour

After breakfast you check out from your hotel and go to the railway station where you board a train that takes you to the second largest city of Denmark - Aarhus (train tickets are included). Transfers to and from the train station are not included. You can book a taxi or take a public transport. Private transfer is available on request.

Upon arrival you go to your hotel for check-in. After having some rest you meet your guide and enjoy a 3-hour walking city tour around the most outstanding attractions of Aarhus.

During the tour you visit the famous Den Gamle By - an open-air Old Town Museum of Urban History and Culture that is a breathing experience of what it was like to live and work in a Danish market town, as it was in the old days. You have the unique chance to stroll through its cozy streets of the 1700's, 1800's and the 1900's, see the collection of more than 75 houses from all over Denmark and explore the homes, courtyards and shops as they might have looked in Hans Christian Andersen’s days.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 7: Departure from Copenhagen

This is the last day of your amazing Danish adventure, we hope you enjoyed your trip to Denmark with Firebird Tours! After breakfast you check out from your hotel and your driver transfers you to the airport for a quick flight to Copenhagen (flight tickets are included).
