Arrival
Welcome to Italy! Begin your journey in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the glamorous heart of the Dolomites, surrounded by soaring peaks and alpine meadows—an ideal base for your 7-day hiking adventure.
After checking in at your hotel, explore Cortina’s charming pedestrian center, browse boutiques and cafés, and enjoy a sunset over the dramatic mountains—a stunning start to your trip.

Your first hiking day begins with a steady climb through lush green forests into the open expanse of Alpine meadows between 1,800 and 2,200 meters. The trail leads to two of the Dolomites’ most iconic landmarks — Lake Federa and the Cinque Torri.
At Lake Federa, the mirror-still water reflects the dramatic Sorapis and Cristallo ranges towering above the Cortina valley.
Continuing on, you reach the Cinque Torri (Five Towers) — a striking dolomite formation that rises more than 100 meters above rolling meadows. Once fractured by the rise of the Alps, these sculpted towers now form a breathtaking natural amphitheater, beloved by hikers and climbers alike.

Today’s route leads eastward into one of the most tranquil and lesser-known corners of the Dolomites. Skirting the northern slopes of the Croda Rossa massif, you’ll see its distinctive red cliffs glowing in the sunlight. Though this ridge hides the southern panorama toward Cortina, it rewards you with dramatic views of the Pustertal Alps to the north — a mountain chain of an entirely different geological origin.
By afternoon, you’ll reach the Alpe di Vallandro plateau, a peaceful meadow surrounded by peaks and alpine pastures. Here, your mountain lodge awaits, offering a serene setting and stunning sunset views of the Monte Cristallo massif.

Today brings one of the highlights of the entire journey — the approach to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the “Three Peaks” that symbolize the Dolomites themselves. The trail ascends gradually from forested valleys into open alpine terrain, and soon the famous peaks come into view.
As you circle the massif, the north faces of the Tre Cime dominate the skyline, glowing gold and orange in the afternoon sun. This area is a paradise for photographers and nature lovers alike. Spend the evening in a mountain hut facing the peaks, where you can watch the sun set behind them — an unforgettable finale to your high-altitude adventure.
