Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

Welcome to Tbilisi - the charming capital of Georgia! Your private guide and driver meets you at the exit gates of the airport holding a sign with your name on it and take you to your centrally located hotel.

This evening is free for you, so you can spend it at leisure relaxing in your room, dining in one of the numerous nearby restaurants or starting exploring the city center on your own.

Day 2: Tbilisi City Tour

Following breakfast at the hotel you meet with your guide and go on an unforgettable Tbilisi city tour. You start with a visit to the historical city district Metekhi, where you see the famous Metekhi Church built in the 13th century and located on a picturesque cliff that offers magnificent panoramic views of Tbilisi over the river Mtkvari.

Then you proceed to the ancient Tbilisi landmark that existed even before the city itself, the Narikala Fortress, also called the mother fortress of Tbilisi, and take a walk around its enormous walls feeling history of this unique place.

You also explore the 6th century Sioni Cathedral that is home to one of the most venerated Orthodox relics of Tbilisi - the cross of St. Nino, visit a synagogue and the only remaining mosque in Tbilisi, take a walk around the pedestrian street Sharden, and see the famous Abanotubani sulfur baths.

After a sightseeing tour you continue your acquaintance with Tbilisi by visiting its art and history museum. In the evening you return to your hotel.

Day 3: Mtskheta, Gori & Uplistsikhe Tour

After breakfast you together with your guide venture to the spiritual heart and one of the most ancient cities of Georgia dating back to 1000 BC - Mtskheta.

During your sightseeing tour you visit one of the most outstanding monuments of medieval Georgia nestled on Mount Armazi at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers - the Jvari Monastery. You have some time to take a leisurely walk around this sacred monastery and to enjoy mesmerizing views of Mtskheta.

Then you go to one of the most sacred Orthodox Georgian temples - the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, known as the burial site of Christ’s robe and the site for coronation and burial of the kings of Georgia. Inside you will explore its most venerated icon portraying a Life Giving Pillar, and a small stone church that is a symbolic copy of the Chapel of Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

After Mtskheta tour you are transferred to Gori where you visit the Museum of Joseph Stalin. Then you proceed to one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia - Uplistsikhe Cave Town. Its name translated as Fortress of the Lord reflects its sheltered rock position that makes the city a natural fortress. Uplistsikhe contains numerous buildings and temples carved in a rock and ancient artifacts dating back to the late Bronze Age.

After the tour your driver transfers you back to your hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 4: Ananuri & Kazbegi Tour

This morning your driver takes you to the beautiful village of Kazbegi. Along the way you enjoy a peaceful stopover at the famous Ananuri Castle that is another great example of how the Georgians pick the most magnificent sites for their churches and fortresses, and cross the famous Georgian Military Highway that stretches across most picturesque locations through valleys, rivers, Zhinvali Reservoir and the Caucasus.

Upon arrival to Kazbegi you are offered a 3-hour trekking to the Gergeti Trinity Church that sits at an elevation of 2170 meters near Mount Kazbegi - one of the highest and most beautiful peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. If you are not keen on trekking, you can get on top in half an hour using 4x4 cars for additional cost.

After exploring this architectural treasure you are transferred back to Tbilisi.

Day 5: Tour of the Kakheti Region

This day you explore Georgia’s major wine-producing region - Kakheti. You start your acquaintance with this historical region from a sightseeing tour of Sighnaghi.

After a short walking through cozy narrow streets of this small town that offer great panoramic views over one of the biggest town wall in Georgia, the Alazani Valley and the greater Caucasus mountains, you venture to the Bodbe Monastery located two kilometers from Sighnaghi. This monastery nestled among Cypress trees on a steep hillside is famous for being a site where the relics of St. Nino, enlightener of Georgia and one of its most venerated saints, are shrined.

Following the historical part of the tour you continue exploring Kakheti as Georgia's famous wine-producing center. You visit one of the local wine cellars, where you enjoy traditional Georgian wine tasting. Then you are transferred to the village of Tsinandali to visit one of the most remarkable estates in Kakheti - the house-museum of the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze.

You finish today sightseeing program by visiting the village of Shuamta, where you see the Conventual Complex consisting of the New and Old Shuamta Monasteries.After the tour your driver transfers you back to your hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 6: Transfer to Armenia & Visit to the Sanahin & Haghpat Monasteries

After breakfast you check out from your hotel in Tbilisi and your driver takes you across the border to Armenia.

You start exploring Armenia by visiting two of its most outstanding works of medieval architecture - monastic complexes of Sanahin and Haghpat. Both these ensembles are the most popular treasures of northern Armenia that provide a deep insight into the country's history and culture.

After spending some magnificent time walking around these picturesque locations, you are transferred to Yerevan where you check in to the centrally located hotel.

Day 7: Visit to Khor Virap & Noravank Monasteries

Today you visit one of the most sacred places in Armenia and a famous pilgrimage site located right at the foot of a biblical Mount Ararat - the Khor Virap Monastery. You explore the territory of this ancient monastery, including its legendary pit dungeon, and enjoy the most breathtaking views of Mount Ararat and Ararat Valley.

Later you proceed to the equally spectacular Noravank monastery. Built in the 13th century and nested deep in the Noravank canyon surrounded by brick-red cliffs, it represents a perfect harmony of the historical architecture with the fabulous natural sceneries. You will be mesmerized by the amazing beauty of this unique place and will have some time to take advantage from its great photo opportunities.

After the tour your driver takes you back to Yerevan.

Day 8: Yerevan City Tour & Visit to Garni

The first part of this day is dedicated to Yerevan sightseeing tour. Your guide will show you the best attractions and popular historical sites of the Armenian capital in just several hours.

During the tour you visit the Matenadaran Institute of Manuscripts, a unique treasure trove housing the world’s richest collection of ancient manuscripts and books, and the Genocide Memorial Museum dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Later you are transferred outside Yerevan to explore the pagan temple of the early Armenian civilization in the village of Garni. This ancient temple overlooking the beautiful Azat Valley used to be a summer residence for the Armenian royal dynasties and now is a popular tourist destination.

You finish today's sightseeing program with a visit to the beautiful Geghart monastery partially carved out of the adjacent mountain. After the tour your driver takes you back to your hotel in Yerevan.

Day 9: Trip to Echmiadzin

Following breakfast at your hotel, your driver transfers you to the ancient capital and spiritual center of Armenia - Echmiadzin.

Here you visit the first cathedral built in Armenia and one of the oldest cathedrals in the world, the famous Etchmiadzin Cathedral, known as "Armenian Vatican" or "Armenian Mecca" for its extreme popularity among the religious Armenians worldwide who converted it into a major pilgrimage site in the country.

You also have the chance to see the Saint Hripsime Church with your own eyes, that is the finest example of  classic Armenian church architecture, and the ruins of the 7th-century Zvartnots Cathedral.

After the sightseeing program your driver takes you back to Yerevan, where you visit the History Museum containing more than 87,000 objects dedicated to the archaeology, ethnography, culture and fine arts of Yerevan.

After the tour you are transferred to your hotel.

Day 10: Departure from Yerevan

This is the final day of your one-of-a-kind journey around the most picturesque and sacred places of Georgia and Armenia. After breakfast your driver meets you at the hotel lobby and takes you to the airport for your flight back home.
