Day 1
Arrival to Palermo

Welcome to Palermo - the stunning capital of Sicily. Upon arrival, you are met by your private driver at the airport, who transfers you to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is at your own leisure to relax after the trip.

No meals included.

Day 2
Arts and Workshops of Palermo & Monreale

After breakfast you meet with your private guide and driver to enjoy a comprehensive and exciting full day tour of Palermo and Monreale.

The capital of Sicily - Palermo - has been at the crossroads of cultures and civilizations for 8 millennia, and you start the exploration of its rich heritage with a visit to the Norman Palace and the Palatine Chapel, adorned by extraordinary Byzantine mosaics. You continue with a walk along the oldest street in Palermo and reach the imposing Four Corners, the central point of the old town. You then proceed to the Tuscan fountain in Piazza Pretoria and just behind it see two splendid Arabo-Norman churches, La Martorana and San Cataldo.

After a short drive you arrive in Monreale and along with a visit to Monreale Cathedral, with its outstanding mosaics and Benedictine Closter, with 228 columns and Romanesque sculptures, you enter one of the workshops that still produces mosaic artworks. Then you step inside the oldest bakery in Monreale where bread is still baked in a wood-fired oven, and here you have a chance to taste the Sicilian "pane cunzato".

Upon your return to Palermo you have one more visit to a workshop of artistic terracotta creations and visit a house museum with the biggest private Majolica collection.

After the tour you return to the hotel and have the evening at leisure.

Breakfast and pane cunzato tasting included.

Day 3
Architectural & Culinary Traditions of Segesta and Erice

Following breakfast you meet with your private guide and driver and embark on a day tour to the Segesta, with its best-preserved Doric Temple, and the unforgettable medieval hilltop town of Erice.

Segesta once has been the most important regional town and trading center, and now it treasures two Classical monuments which you visit: the Temple of Segesta and the Greek theatre.

Then you proceed to Erice, a wonderfully preserved town offering the most breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Together with your guide you discover the city's treasures. Erice boasts 60 churches, some dating back to the early 1300's, and two incredible castles, Pepoli Castle and Venus Castle.

One more highlight today is a visit to the local pasticceria for a cooking demonstration and tasting of the famous cannoli, Sicilian cassata, almond pastries and other delicious culinary masterpieces. This unique pasticceria is famous for its traditions and amazing taste of its sweets all around Italy and even beyond.

After the tour you return to your hotel in Palermo and have the rest of the day at leisure.

  • Optional extension available: Add one more day to your trip and enjoy a tour of the towns of Cefalu and Castelbuono with a private guide-driver.

Breakfast and pasticceria tasing included.

Day 4
Turchi Cliffs and the Valley of Temples

Today you check out from the hotel and meet your guide-driver and set off on a journey exploring famous Agrigento sights and its surroundings.

You tour begins with one of the two highlights of the region - the famous Scala dei Turchi Cliffs. The dazzling chalky white rocky cliff eroded conveniently into stairs rising 50 meters above sea level. This natural phenomenon so-called "Stairs of the Turks" allows for easy walking. Its gleaming color is eye-catching enough, but what makes it even more remarkable is that it looks like a staircase carved by man even though its shape is entirely natural.

In the second part of the day you explore the splendid Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You also visit the near-intact Temple of Concord, the best-preserved temple in the World and one of the symbols of Sicily.

After the tour, you are transferred to your hotel in Agrigento.

Breakfast is included.

Day 5
Villa Romana del Casale & Ceramics of Caltagirone

Today after breakfast at the hotel you check out and meet your guide-driver to travel to the southern regions of the island.

The first stop on the route is Piazza Armerina where you see the famous Villa Romana del Casale.

Continue to the town Caltagirone where the culture of ceramics is a cult: streets and building decorations are full of ceramics. Here you can go up the staircase, Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte, which is also decorated with tiles, its 142 steps connecting two parts of the town. Stroll around the workshops of the old city and visit one of the local producers to see the process of ceramics creation*.

After the tour your are taken to the hotel to relax and have time at leisure.

*Note: The workshop visit is available on weekdays only.

Breakfast is included.

Day 6
Discovering Ragusa & Cioccolato di Modica

Following breakfast meet your guide-driver and start your day with a city tour of Ragusa.

This city was almost destroyed in an earthquake in 1693 and was subsequently rebuilt and divided into two parts Ragusa Ibla (lower town) and Superiore (upper town). From the upper town, located on a hill, you can observe the whole UNESCO-listed Baroque town. Together with your guide, you visit the Cathedral San Giovanni Battista designed by local architects in the 18th century and the Santa Maria delle Scale church which has also been damaged in the earthquake, though the entrance and the four Gothic chapels resemble the original building.

In the afternoon you head to Modica - a town of 100 churches. Besides marvelous architecture, this town is famous for its Cioccolato di Modica production. The chocolate making tradition counts more than 400 years and today you have a chance to dive into it when visiting a local chocolate factory for a tasting and access to the laboratory where you have a hands-on experience of the process of making this famous chocolate yourself*.

After the tour you return to the hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

*Note: The workshop is available on weekdays only. Visit of the shop is available on any day.

Breakfast and chocolate tasting included.

Day 7
Tour to Syracuse & Arrival to Taormina

Following breakfast you check out from the hotel and your private guide-driver takes you on a journey towards Syracuse.

Along the way, you have a quick stop at the Baroque town of Noto. Then continue straight to the important archeological site - the Neapolis Park of Syracuse. You start your sightseeing program by visiting the archeological area of Syracuse and exploring the still-working Greek Theater, the Ear of Dionysius and the Roman Amphitheater.

Together with your guide-driver you proceed to the delightful Ortygia Island and have time to lunch at one of the many eateries that surround the splendid Piazza Duomo. You also have an inside visit to the Duomo where a Greek Doric temple remains to be a part of it, and for this reason, it is included in the UNESCO list.

After the tour you are transferred to your hotel in Taormina.

Breakfast is included.

Day 8
Sightseeing of Taormina & Cooking Class

In the morning after breakfast, you have a private cooking class in a fine restaurant specializing in Sicilian cuisine. Once you arrive at the restaurant, you have coffee, discuss the menu and head to the local market, together with the owner of the restaurant or the chef you buy fresh local produce. During the class you prepare traditional dishes and afterward enjoy the meal you have cooked.

Following the cooking class your guide meets you at the restaurant to start a city tour of Taormina. You stroll along the main street, Corso Umberto I, and visit the Greco-Roman Theater that has Etna as its backdrop.

After touring the old town of Taormina you take a cable car down to the beach for your private boat ride. During the boat tour of the Mazzaro Bay and the Ionian Coast you discover the beautiful caves including the Grotta Azzurra and the nature reserve Isola Bella. You also have a chance to bathe in the clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea.

After the tour you return to the hotel.
