Day-by-Day

Day 1

Arrival in Lisbon

Welcome to Lisbon - the fabulous capital of Portugal! Upon arrival, your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your centrally located hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free so you can start exploring the magnificent city center on your own, dine in one of the local restaurants or take a good rest in your comfortable room.

Day 2

Lisbon Old Town Tour & Visit of the Belem Quarter

After breakfast, you meet your guide and go on a sightseeing tour of Lisbon.

During the tour, you visit both the old and new towns with their most famous attractions, including Rossio Square, Restauradores Square with the Obelisk commemorating the Restoration of Portugal’s independence from Spain in 1640, the charming neighborhood of Chiado abundant in old cafés, shops and theaters, and the Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral - the city’s oldest church.

Then you proceed to Commerce Square where you learn how the city was destroyed in 1755 by a massive earthquake, and then totally rebuilt to become the city of today. You finish the tour with a walk at the Belem Quarter, where you see the Monument to the Discoveries and the ancient Belem Tower.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free. In the evening you may join an optional tour.

  • Optional tour: Enjoy dinner in a city restaurant accompanied by a magnificent Fado Show.

Day 3

Exploring the Castles of Sintra, Cabo da Roca & Cascais

Following breakfast, you meet your driver who takes you on an exciting day-trip to one of Portugal's most beautiful destinations - Sintra, that is famous for its fairy-tale castles and beautiful scenery.

Upon arrival, you enjoy a guided walking tour of the historical center of Sintra and have some free time to buy some traditional souvenirs or visit the National Palace of Sintra on your own (no tickets included).

Then you proceed to the Moorish Castle - the historical 9th-century fortress built by Moors, where you spend some time walking to the castle walls to be awarded with breathtaking views of Sintra. After that, you visit the fairytale National Palace of Pena to see its most interesting halls and rooms, including the Arab Room and the Queen’s Throne room.

Later you continue your journey through the beautiful landscapes of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park to Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point in Europe, “where the land ends and the sea begins”. You make a stop there to enjoy the views and take advantage of excellent photo opportunities.

Passing by the Boca do Inferno cliff you finally arrive at Cascais - the charming 12th-century coastal town, where you have free time to wander around its historical center or take a relaxing walk at the beach.

After the tour, you are transferred back to your hotel in Lisbon. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 4

Lisbon's Fishing Culture

In the morning after breakfast, prepare for an exciting day of exploring Lisbon's fishing culture. Together with your guide and driver, you cross Lisbon´s old bridge and head to Fonte da Telha Beach, home to an old fishing village.

During the tour, you get to learn about the fisherman's traditional way of life, while on a beach surrounded by cliffs and pine forests. Later on, you travel along the coast to the Arrabida Mountain Range where you can see the breathtaking views of the Sado estuary, which is listed as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Driving down the Mountain you arrive at the city of Setubal, where you visit the Livramento Market where you see an assortment of local seafood.

To end your experience, you are invited to lunch at a typical family-run fisherman´s restaurant where you have a delicious traditional Mediterranean meal. After lunch, you make a stop to taste a special liqueur that can only be found in this region and that is made according to a centuries-old recipe and taste the regional Azeitao cheese, home-made bread, and different jams.

After the tour, you return to your hotel in Lisbon and have the rest of the day free.

Day 5

Trip to Coimbra via Obidos, Batalha and Fatima

In the morning following breakfast, you check-out from your hotel and go for another day of exploring Portuguese cities. Your driver meets you at your hotel and takes you to the beautiful city of Obidos to admire its medieval Castle and see authentic white houses.

Continue to Batalha, where you visit the church of the majestic Monastery of Santa Maria de Victoria - a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Another stop you make today is Fatima, famous for its Sanctuary of Fatima that is the largest place of worship in Portugal.

Your final destination today is the city of Coimbra where you check in to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 6

Exploring Coimbra & Departure to Porto

Following breakfast, you check out from the hotel. Together with your guide, you go on a sightseeing tour of Coimbra highlights.

Coimbra, located in the heart of Portugal, was the medieval capital for more than 100 years and is the oldest university city in Portugal. Monumental, inspiring and surprisingly charming, the city faces the Mondego River, crowned by the University and its stunning baroque library.

In the afternoon, your driver takes you to the train station where you take a train to Porto - the romantic second-largest city in Portugal (train tickets are included). In about three hours you arrive in the city, where your driver meets you and takes you to your centrally located hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free.

Day 7

Exploring the Highlights of Porto & Wine Tasting

After breakfast, you meet your guide and driver who take you on an exhilarating sightseeing tour of Porto's main landmarks.

Located along the Douro river estuary in northern Portugal, Porto encompasses one of the oldest European town centers which is in fact registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the tour, you admire the most iconic city monuments, including Luis I Bridge and the Cathedral, and see the railway station of São Bento.

You then continue your tour, driving along the river bank to the mouth of the river and then along the ocean to the Castle of Queijo. The day is crowned with a visit to the famous Lello Bookstore (entrance included).

After the tour, you are transferred back to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 8

Day Trip to the Douro Valley & Port Wine Tasting

Following breakfast, you meet your driver who takes you to the breathtaking Douro Valley Wine Region - a famous UNESCO Heritage Site recognized as the best river destination of Europe.

The tour starts in the historical city of Amarante, where you visit the impressive Bridge and São Goncalo Church. Afterwards, you take a stop in Regua - the center of the Port wine region, where you visit a traditional vineyard to enjoy wine tasting.

Following lunch, you proceed to the second Port wine winery to learn all about Port wine secrets and history. The route takes you along one of the most beautiful roads of Portugal to the small town of Pinhão, where you visit its beautiful railway station.

After the tour, you are transferred to your hotel in Porto and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9

Braga & Guimaraes Old Town Sightseeing Tours

Following breakfast, your driver takes you to Minho - the greenest region of Portugal, famous for its amazing landscapes, wonderful cultural heritage, and authentic handicrafts, which make Minho the region full of traditions with the unique personality .

Upon arrival in the capital of the region - the ancient city of Braga, you visit its 11th- century Cathedral (entrance tickets are included) where you can admire the impressive Sanctuary of Bom Jesus.

You then continue your way to the cradle of Portugal - the medieval city of Guimaraes, where you explore its UNESCO-listed Old Town and visit its famous Castle known as the birthplace of the first Portuguese King.

After the tour, your driver takes you back to your hotel in Porto. The rest of the day is free.

Day 10

Departure from Porto

This is the last day of your amazing tour of Portugal! After breakfast, your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight back home. We wish you a safe flight and hope to work on your future trips!
