Day-by-Day

Day 1
Arrival in Munich

Welcome to Munich! Upon arrival meet your private driver at the arrivals hall and head for your centrally-located hotel for check-in. The rest of the evening is free for you to enjoy Munich on your own.

Day 2
Day Tour to Neuschwanstein

Experience a truly royal day tour of the majestic Castle Neuschwanstein in the Bavarian Alps! Together with your guide-driver you enjoy a hassle-free day without queuing and rushing.

Today Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular of all the palaces and castles in Europe. Every year 1.4 million people visit "the castle of the fairy-tale king". In the summer around 6,000 visitors a day stream through rooms that were intended for a single inhabitant. During your guided tour of the castle, you learn about the eccentric Fairy Tale King Ludwig II, the builder of this imposing landmark, his complicated life in Bavaria at the start of the Second Reich and his life-long friendship with the composer Richard Wagner.

After the tour, return back to Munich and have the evening at your leisure.

Day 3
Munich City Tour and Embarkation

After breakfast, you meet your private guide and go on a fascinating 3-hour tour of Munich's beautiful old town to take a look at the city's turbulent 850-year history.

With its exuberant atmosphere and vitality, Munich is one of Europe's great cultural centers. Enjoy your city tour around Marien Square, Church of Our Lady and Residenz Palace. In the ancient part of town the world-famous Hofbrauhaus, the medieval town gates and the colorful open-air market Viktualienmarkt are waiting for you. Munich’s elegant Maximilian Street offers views at the Bavarian Parliament, Deutsches Museum, Royal Palace and the Opera House. You pass by Theatiner Church, Hall of Generals (Feldherrnhalle), and House of Arts, the Bavarian National Museum and the Angel of Peace.

After the tour, you have a private transfer to Passau to embark the ship and start the cruise.

In the evening you have a welcome reception and welcome dinner. After dinner, your ship departs from Passau.

Day 4
Exploring Regensburg & Weltenburg Abbey

Following breakfast together with your group guide, you go on a 2-hour tour of Regensburg, one of Germany's oldest towns, founded by the Romans in 179 AD.

You see one of Europe’s oldest bridges that has spanned the Danube since the 12th century and visit the Regensburg Cathedral.

Next on your agenda is a 5-hour group trip to the Weltenburg Abbey. You take a coach ride to this hidden Bavarian gem, and along the way make a stop in Michelsberg to see the Hall of Liberation. As a highlight of the day you take an excursion boat to the scenic nature reserve. Upon arrival, you go to the Weltenburg Abbey, which is the oldest monastery in Bavaria. Here you have a tour of the abbey church followed by a tasting of the famous dark beer of Weltenburg, which is brewed here in the oldest monastery brewery in the world.

After the tour, you return to your ship and continue cruising. Onboard you enjoy a Bavarian evening with traditional music and local specialities for dinner.

Day 5
Touring Salzburg & Salzkammergut

After breakfast prepare for a full-day group tour to Salzburg, which you reach by bus.

During the tour, you discover the countless architectural and historical artistic highlights of the enchanting baroque city of Salzburg. You see the Getreidegasse and Mozart’s birthplace as well as the marvelous old part of the city. You also see the Mirabell Palace, the Garden of Dwarfs and the Garden of Roses, stroll along the narrow streets and enjoy the flair of this old city.

Following lunch, you continue to the picturesque village of Mondsee, best known as a film location for the famous movie "The Sound of Music", where you have the chance to take in the beautiful scenery.

After the tour, you return to the ship and continue cruising.

Day 6
Day Tour to Melk Abbey and Wine Tasting

Following breakfast, you arrive in Emmersdorf from where you start a group tour to Melk Abbey and Durstein city.

In the Abbey, your group guide takes you through the abbot’s chambers, along the imperator’s walk, through the marble hall, the balconies and the library. The abbey’s church and the impressive library with countless medieval manuscripts and frescos are particularly noteworthy.

Continue to Durstein and have time to walk around the charming and beautiful city center. Upon return to Emmersdorf, you enjoy a glass of a local wine.

Day 7
City tour of Vienna

Today your ship arrives in Vienna, the European capital of music!

Together with your guide, you get to explore the main sights of the city in 3.5 hours. Among the places you see today during the panoramic drive are the State Opera House, the Parliament building and the stunning city hall.

During the walking tour, you see the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the former winter residence of the Habsburgs, walk along the Kohl market and see the St. Stephen Cathedral. You also have some free time to enjoy the old town on your own.

After the tour, you are taken back to the ship to continue your cruise.

Day 8
Bratislava Guided Tour

Following breakfast, your ship arrives in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. Today together with your group guide you set off on a 3-hour exploration of the must-visit sites of the city on a walking and bus tour and enjoy the historic center of Bratislava, rich in castles and baroque palaces.

You see the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral built in the period from 13th to16th centuries, and the Grassalkovich Palace, which is now the Slovak president’s residence. Enjoy great views of the city from a top-hill observation point. During the tour, you also see the Primatial Palace, the 15th-century university Academia Istropolitana, the old City Hall, the Opera House and Maximilian Fountain.

After the tour, you return to your ship and in the evening enjoy the Captain’s Gala Dinner.

Day 9
City Tour of Budapest

Today you get to discover the most beautiful places in the capital of Hungary, Budapest, divided into two parts, Buda and Pest, by the Danube River.

In 3.5-hour group tour, you see main sights including the Great Market Hall, the imposing Neo-Renaissance Hungarian State Opera and the symbol of the city - the striking Parliament building. Then you make a photo stop on the Heroes' Square, cross one of the seven bridges into Buda and go up to Castle Hill, where you visit St. Matthew's Church and the famous Fisherman's Bastion.

After the tour, you are taken back to your vessel.

Day 10
Eger Sightseeing & Wine Tasting

Early in the morning, you meet your private guide and driver and start your 8-hour tour. In about 1.5 hours, you arrive at magical Eger, a historical town in Eastern Hungary.

During the city tour, you visit the fortress of Eger - an important symbol of the heroism of Hungarian defenders who successfully beat back the overwhelming Ottoman army in the 16th century. After the tour of Eger you proceed to a nearby 'Valley of the Beautiful Women', which keeps more than 600 years old tradition of making the delicious red wines. You learn about the wine-making process and experience a 5-tier wine tasting in one of the 200 family run wine cellars located there.

After the tour, you return to your hotel in Budapest.

Day 11
Departure from Budapest

This is the final day of your tour. Today your driver takes you to the airport for your flight back home. We hope you enjoyed your European tour and the charming cities you have explored!

What to Know
  • It's always best to withdraw some cash in local currency before your departure. You will need Hungarian Forints for your time in Hungary, and Euros for Austria and Germany;
  • Tipping in all of the capitals is commonly expected. Visitors are often expected to tip at least 5-15%.
  • You will be walking quite a bit during your sightseeing tours, so make sure to bring comfortable shoes.
