Day 10: Pompeii Day-trip

Following breakfast in your hotel you check-out, meet your private guide and driver and start an exciting tour to the ancient city of Pompeii.

Set near the foot of a picturesque mountain are the archaeological sites of Pompeii, one of the greatest and richest cities of the Roman age that was tragically completely destroyed in 79 AD as a result of the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today you see the excavated finds of the remnants of this ancient city, buried alive under 4 to 6 m of volcanic ash almost 2000 years ago.

During the tour of this unique UNESCO World Heritage Site you see artifacts, city walls, the Pompeii amphitheater and other almost perfectly preserved objects that give a detailed insight into the life of the city.

After the tour you are transferred to your centrally-located hotel in Naples and have the rest of the day free.

Breakfast is included.

Day 11: Naples City Tour

In the morning after breakfast at your hotel prepare to continue your Southern Italy exploration. Your private guide and driver take you on a touring program around the best sights of charming Naples. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and boasts numerous sites, dating to different time periods. Its towering palaces, narrow streets, ancient churches and underground passages are unique, making the Naples city center probably the most unchanged one in Europe.

Together with your guide you get to see unmissable attractions of the motherland of pizza, see its famous Piazza squares, UNESCO-listed historic center and the Naples Cathedral. The highlight of the tour is a visit to Sansevero Chapel Museum to admire the masterpieces of the world artistic heritage.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Optional tour: Herculaneum & Mount Vesuvius Trip
Explore the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum, once destroyed by Mount Vesuvius. Though the ruins of Pompeii are more popular, those of Herculaneum are much better preserved because of the barrage that buried it. The wood that had been used to construct the city was instantly carbonized. Your day trip is crowned by visiting the Mount Vesuvius stratovolcano itself. Once there you can climb the mount (approx 30 minutes) and walk around the crater to enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Gulf of Naples. We suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Breakfast is included.
