Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Madrid

Welcome to the capital of Spain and one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Madrid! Upon arrival your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your downtown hotel for check-in. 

The rest of the day is free so you can start exploring the magnificent old town on your own, dine in one of the authentic local restaurants or take a good rest in your comfortable room.

No meals included.

Day 2: Madrid Old Town Tour

Following breakfast you meet your guide and enjoy a fascinating sightseeing tour around the most brilliant attractions of Madrid de los Austrias - the amazing old town of the Spanish capital that treasures historical monuments dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries when Spain was ruled by the House of the Hapsburgh.

During the tour you take a walk around Plaza de Oriente, enter the gorgeous Royal Palace called Palacio Real, see the beautiful exteriors of the Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Almudena and stroll through Major Street.

Next you proceed to Plaza de la Villa, stop by St. Michel's Market and walk down the picturesque Cava de San Miguel. Your tour finishes at iconic Plaza Mayor and breathtaking Puerta del Sol.

After the touring is over you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 3: FIREBIRD SPECIAL: Segovia and Avila

Enjoy your first breakfast in Spain in the hotel's restaurant. Following that, meet your professional guide and driver for an amazing day trip to Segovia and Avila!

During the tour you visit the remains of the Roman Empire as seen at the Aqueduct of Segovia, one of the best preserved ancient monuments on the Iberian peninsula. Segovia used to be the residence to some of Castilian kings and today it boasts with some of the most important medieval groups of buildings in Spain.

Finally, admire the "Lady of the Cathedrals" and view the most spectacular castle in Spain, Alcázar, which was built as a fortress but has also been used as a royal palace, state prison, college, and military academy.

After lunch stop in one of local restaurants we proceed to Ávila a medieval city in the province of Castile-Léon in western Spain, about 70 miles northwest of Madrid. Founded in the 11th century to protect the Spanish territories from the Moors, Ávila has a magnificently well-preserved city wall, a historic cathedral, a number of Romanesque churches, and an authentic medieval atmosphere. For all these reasons, the entire Old Town of Ávila has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. For pilgrims, the city of Ávila is important because of its association with the great mystic and reformer St. Teresa de Jesus, better known as St. Teresa of Ávila.

After the tour your driver will take you back to your hotel in Madrid.

Day 4: Exploring Treasures of Toledo

This day is devoted entirely to the exploration of Toledo - the former Spanish capital and one of the oldest towns in Europe. Following breakfast in your Madrid hotel you walk to the train station and enjoy a 30-minute train ride to Toledo (regular class train tickets to and from Toledo are included).

Upon arrival, your local guide meets you at the train station and takes you on a city tour around the mesmerizing landmarks of the ancient Toledo.

During the tour you walk through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, explore the fortified city walls and see the famous UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval architecture, including the 13th-century Cathedral of Toledo and Sinagogue (entrances included).

After the tour you return to Madrid by train and spend an overnight in your downtown hotel.

Day 5: Visit to the Prado Museum & Train to Cordoba

Enjoy your last breakfast in Madrid and prepare to check out from your hotel. Your guide meets you and takes you on a walking tour to discover Madrid of the Bourbons - the historical area around the Prado Museum.

During the tour you pass the Parque del Retiro, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza Cibeles, and three monumental fountains: Cibeles, Apolo and Neptuno. Next you proceed to the Spanish Parliament building, see the Atocha train station and explore the area of the Golden Triangle of Art made up of three most important art museums of Madrid - the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemitza and the Reina Sofia.

The highlight of the tour is a visit to one of the world's greatest art galleries and Madrid's top cultural sight - the Prado Museum. This venue houses a unique collection of Spanish fine art displayed in the halls and rooms of this 18th-century Neo-Classical building. You see the most significant gems of the museum’s collection, including the famous masterpieces of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, Raphael and Rubens.

After the tour you have some free time before you are accompanied to the rail station for a 2-hour high-speed train ride to Cordoba (first class tickets are included).

Upon arrival you are transferred to your downtown hotel for an overnight.

Day 6: Cordoba Highlights & Drive to Granada

Following breakfast you check out from your hotel and enjoy a 3-hour guided tour around the most outstanding sights of Cordoba that used to be the largest city of Roman Spain.

While exploring the city with your guided tour you see the beautiful Roman Bridge, the famous 14th-century Royal Castle - Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, and the Great Mosque of Cordoba that is the oldest mosque in Europe.

After lunch in a local restaurant you take a 2-hour drive to Granada - a picturesque city located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Upon arrival you check in to your downtown hotel and have some time at your leisure to prepare for one of the highlights of your trip - visit to Flamenco performance in caves.

Included evening activity:
Granada's famous variation of traditional Flamenco dance is called Zambra. Visit one of the famous Sacromonte caves to witness this passionate performance where the dancer is also singing!

Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 7: Exploring Alhambra of Granada

In the morning after breakfast your guide takes you on a wonderful sightseeing tour of Granada, known as the last stronghold of the Moors in Western Europe full of numerous historical sights and medieval architecture.

During the tour you see the main treasures of Granada including one of Spain's most visited attractions - the Alhambra Fortress that used to be the residence of the Muslim rulers and their court. Get awe-inspired by its numerous arabesques, porticos, pools and Islamic ornamental masterpieces of its hallways.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Breakfast is included.

Day 8: Visit of the Seville Cathedral & Alcazar

Following breakfast you check out from your hotel and catch a comfortable train to Seville. Upon arrival you are accompanied to your downtown hotel for check in.

After a short break, you meet with your guide in hotel lobby and have a panoramic city tour of Seville. Experience authentic Andalusian spirit in one of its most important cities. Your sightseeing program features top sights including the symbol of the city - the Giralda Tower, and visit to the Seville Cathedral and the Real Alcazar of Seville - the oldest European royal residence composed of a group of buildings from different time periods (entrances included). Your tour finishes at a scenic Plaza de Espana - a dazzling palace complex dating back to the epoch of Renaissance and considered to be among the most beautiful complexes of its kind in the world.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 9: FIREBIRD SPECIAL: Optional day trip to Jerez

Today is a free day for you to enjoy Seville on your own or to join our carefully planned optional tour to Jerez.

Explore the largest city in the Cadiz province, Jerez, located less about an hour from Seville on train. During your guided walking tour of Jerez you see its main sights, including the Church of San Miguel, the Old Town hall, San Dionisio Church, the Jerez de la Frontera Cathedral, and the beautiful Alcazar. As a tour highlight, you have a guided visit to the Gonzalez Byass Winery, where you get to taste 2 wines and tapas and then go to the Tabanco El Pasaje restaurant for lunch and a flamenco show. Lunch of 3 glasses of wine (or equivalent) and 4 typical tapas is included.

Overnight in your downtown Seville hotel.

Day 10: Departure

Today is the last day of your journey around Central and Southern Spain. Your driver meets you at the hotel lobby and takes you to the airport. We hope to see you soon again!
