Day-by-Day

Day 1

Arrival in Barcelona

Welcome to Barcelona - one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Upon arrival, your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your centrally located hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free so you can start exploring the magnificent old downtown on your own, dine at one of the local restaurants or take a good rest in your comfortable room.

Day 2

Tour of Barcelona Old Town

After breakfast, you meet your private guide at the hotel lobby and go on a wonderful walking tour around the most outstanding attractions of Barcelona Old Town.

During the tour, you walk through the maze of old narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, go inside the Barcelona Cathedral, pass through the former Jewish District, St. Jaume Square and Square of the King, see the Generalitat Palace, the City Hall and the former Royal Palace (from the outside), and explore the Ribera Shore District where you see the Santa María del Mar Church. You also enter the Barcelona Cathedral located in the Gothic Quarter.

The tour finishes on the most vivid street in Barcelona La Rambla, abundant in modern shops, arts and crafts stalls and numerous open-air cafes and restaurants, where you can take some rest and enjoy the bustling life of Barcelona.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 3

Gaudi Tour & Train to Madrid

Following breakfast, you meet your private guide and driver and enjoy a fantastic sightseeing tour dedicated to the world-renowned architectural works of Antonio Gaudi.

You start with a visit to the colorful Park Guell, where you spend some time strolling through its mosaic paths and enjoying the great city views.

The day is crowned with the visit to the astonishing Sagrada Familia Cathedral - the most brilliant masterpiece of Gaudi that is rightfully considered the most recognizable symbol of Barcelona.

After the tour, you get to the train station where you board a high-speed train to Madrid (train tickets are included). Upon arrival, you go to your centrally located hotel for check-in (rail station transfers not included).

  • Note: Taxi service in all of Spain is extremely developed and is easily spotted at any public places and hotels. Taxi cost is usually $5-8. Private transfer is available upon request (cost is $42 per person).

Day 4

Madrid City Tour

After breakfast, you meet your guide in the hotel lobby and have a city tour around the most famous Madrid attractions. During the tour, you explore Madrid de los Austrias - the historical area of the Spanish capital. Most of the monuments date back to the 16th and 17th centuries when Spain was ruled by the House of the Hapsburgh.

You see the Plaza de Oriente, enter the gorgeous Royal Palace called Palacio Real, take a glimpse at the Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Almudena and Major Street. Then you proceed to the Plaza de la Villa, stop by St. Michel's Market and walk down the picturesque Cava de San Miguel. Your final stops are Plaza Mayor and the breathtaking Puerta del Sol.

Day 5

Day Trip to Toledo & Flamenco Show

This day is devoted to the exploration of Toledo - the former capital of Spain and one of the oldest towns in Europe. Following breakfast, you go to the train station and enjoy a 30-minute train ride to Toledo (train tickets to and from Toledo are included).

  • Note: Private car for the duration of a program is $178 per person.

Upon arrival, you meet your guide at the train station and have a fascinating city tour around the most interesting landmarks of Toledo.

During the tour, you walk through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, explore the fortified city walls and see the famous UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval architecture, including the 13th-century Cathedral of Toledo and Synagogue (entrances included).

After the tour, you return to Madrid by train. In the evening you are invited to visit the most famous flamenco tablao in Madrid - the Corral de la Moreria, where you enjoy a fantastic flamenco show.

Day 6

Visit to the Prado Museum & Train to Lisbon

Following breakfast, you check out from your hotel and meet your guide who takes you to one of the world's greatest art galleries and Madrid's top cultural sight - the Prado Museum.

It houses its unique collection of the Spanish fine art at the numerous halls and rooms of the 18th-century Neo-Classical building. During the tour, you see the most significant gems of the museum’s collection, including the famous masterpieces of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, Raphael and Rubens.

In the evening you proceed to the train station where you take an overnight train to Lisbon.

Day 7

Lisbon Old Town Tour & Visit of the Belem Quarter

After breakfast, you meet your guide and go on a sightseeing tour of Lisbon.

During the tour you visit both the old and new towns with its most famous attractions, including Rossio Square, Restauradores Square with the Obelisk commemorating the Restoration of Portugal’s independence from Spain in 1640, the charming neighborhood of Chiado abundant in old cafés, shops and theaters, and the Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral - the city’s oldest church.

Then you proceed to Commerce Square where you learn how the city was destroyed in 1755 by a massive earthquake, and then totally rebuilt to become the city of today. You finish the tour with a walk at the Belem Quarter, where you see the Monument to the Discoveries and the ancient Belem Tower.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 8

Exploring the Castles of Sintra, Cabo da Roca & Cascais

Following breakfast, you meet your driver who takes you on an exciting day-trip to one of Portugal's most beautiful destinations - Sintra, that is famous for its fairy-tale castles and beautiful sceneries.

Upon arrival, you enjoy a guided walking tour of the historical center of Sintra and have some free time to buy some traditional souvenirs or visit the National Palace of Sintra on your own (no tickets included).

Then you proceed to the Moorish Castle - the historical 9th-century fortress built by Moors, where you spend some time walking to the castle walls to be awarded with breathtaking views of Sintra. After that, you visit the fairy-tale National Palace of Pena to see its most interesting halls and rooms, including the Arab Room and the Queen’s Throne room.

Following lunch, you continue your journey through the beautiful landscapes of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park to Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point in Europe, “where the land ends and the sea begins”. You make a stop there to enjoy the views and take advantage of excellent photo opportunities.

Passing by the Boca do Inferno cliff you finally arrive at Cascais - the charming 12th-century coastal town, where you have free time to wander around its historical center or take a relaxing walk at the beach.

After the tour, you are transferred back to your hotel in Lisbon. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 9

Trip to Obidos, Batalha, Fatima

Today is devoted to exploring Portugal's ancient treasures: three historic towns.

Following breakfast, your driver meets you at your hotel and takes you to the beautiful city of Obidos to admire its medieval Castle, see authentic white houses and taste a traditional ginginha - a bitter cherry liqueur.

Then you continue to Batalha, where you visit the church of the majestic Monastery of Santa Maria de Victoria - a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. You finish your tour in Fatima, famous for its Sanctuary of Fatima that is the largest place of worship in Portugal.

After the tour, you are transferred back to Lisbon.

Day 10

Flight to Seville and Old Town Tour

After breakfast, your driver meets you in the hotel lobby and takes you to the airport for your departure to the Spanish beauty - Seville.

Upon arrival, your driver meets you at the arrival hall and takes you to your hotel. After check in you go on a panoramic city tour of Seville. 

During the tour, you see the marvelous sights of the city, including the symbol of the city - the Giralda Tower, the Seville Cathedral, and the Real Alcazar of Seville - the oldest European royal residence composed of a group of buildings from different time periods (entrances included). Your tour finishes at a scenic Plaza de Espana - one of the most beautiful Renaissance palace complexes in the world.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 11

Free Day in Seville

We didn't plan any activities for you for this day, as having some time to relax in Seville is a must. Beautifully balanced, Seville is small, very historic, and fantastic to browse around on your own. It also has more than 3000 small bars and tapas places, all of which, somehow, are always full.

If you would like to have this day more organized, we would recommend visiting Jerez, which is just 1.5 hour south. Jerez is home to royal carriage museum, and have many Andalusian horses farms nearby.

Day 12

Cordoba City Tour & Overnight in Granada

Following breakfast, you check out from your hotel and take a bus trip to Cordoba - another treasure of Spain that shouldn’t be missed.

Upon arrival, you enjoy a 3-hour guided tour around the most outstanding sights of this once the largest city in Roman Spain, including the Roman Bridge. You get to enter the famous 14th-century royal castle - Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, and the Great Mosque of Cordoba that is the oldest mosque in Europe.

After lunch in a local restaurant, you take a bus trip to the beautiful Granada, home to most visited tourist sight in the world - Alhambra. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your centrally located hotel for overnight.

Day 13

Alhambra & Overnight in Malaga

After breakfast, you explore the beautiful city of Granada located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Known as the last stronghold of the Moors in Western Europe, this city is full of historical sights and medieval architecture.

Together with your guide you walk through famous Alhambra and visit castle fortifications and the palace. Breathtaking views await on top, make sure to have your camera ready!

In the evening you continue to Malaga, located on the shore of the Alboran Sea.

Day 14

Malaga City Tour

After breakfast, you meet your private guide and go on a 4-hour walking tour of the Old Town of Malaga.

During the tour, you take a walk through its cozy narrow streets enjoying the medieval city atmosphere, see the 10th-century Moorish castle and admire the beauty of the Malaga Cathedral.

The rest of the day is free, so you can continue exploring Malaga on your own (we suggest visiting the Picasso Museum), have lunch in a local restaurant or buy some traditional souvenirs.

Day 15

Crossing the Continents Over the Gibraltar

A busy day awaits! After breakfast, you check out from the hotel and start your way to Gibraltar, which is just a 2-hour drive away.

On the way, you make a stop to explore the ancient Spanish city called Ronda - a mountaintop city set dramatically above a deep gorge El Tajo that separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating back to the Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge spanning the gorge, offers sweeping views of the city.

After the tour and lunch in a local restaurant, you proceed to the Gibraltar. You spend about a 2 hours exploring the Gibraltar and then drive to Tarifa, where you embark a high-speed ferry to Tangier.

Upon arrival to the port, you are met by your driver and taken to your Tangier downtown hotel.

Day 16

Tour of Tangier

Today is devoted to exploring Morocco's largest northern city - Tangier. Following breakfast, you go on a guided city tour.

The history of Tangier is very rich, due to the historical presence of many civilizations and cultures starting from before the 5th century BC. Between the period of being a strategic Berber town and then a Phoenician trading center to the independence era around the 1950's, Tangier was a refuge for many cultures. In 1923, Tangier was considered as having international status by foreign colonial powers and became a destination for many European and American diplomats, spies, writers, and businessmen.

After the tour, you have dinner. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in your Tangier hotel.

Day 17

Highlights of Fes

After breakfast, you check out from your hotel. You are transferred to Fes. Upon arrival, you meet your guide and driver and begin your exploration of Fes - the Moroccan medina and one of the largest walled cities in the world.

During your 5-hour guided tour, you see the 14th-century gates of the Royal Palace, the Mellah Jewish quarter and the old Fes Medina with traditional markets, including the renown dyers market and tanneries where leather is tainted in the array of colored dyes.

You enter the ancient Bou Inania Medersa founded in 1351 AD, pass the Pottery & Zellij Tile Cooperative, the Zaouia Sidi Ahmed Tijani mausoleum. Then the 859 University of Kairouine - a leading spiritual and educational center, and the mausoleum of the founder of Fes - Zaouia Moulay Idriss.

Also, you get to enter the Madrassa El Attarine, Dar Batha Museum, Madrasa Es Sahrij. Your final stop is the Nejjarine Square where you enter the Fondouk El Nejjarine.

After the tour, you return to your riad. The rest of the day is at your leisure, you are welcome to join our optional tour.

  • Optional tour: Moroccan cooking class
    Today you are taken out to shop for spices and have a unique chance to learn about the art of using them. After all ingredients are carefully picked out and purchased you return to the kitchen riad and prepare a perfect dish according to a traditional Moroccan recipe.

Day 18

Exploring Volubilis & Meknes

After breakfast at your hotel, you meet your driver and set out to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Upon arrival, you meet your guide who shows you the 2000-year-old ruins, adorned with beautiful mosaics and colorful tiles depicting Roman mythology. You also enjoy tea in a small café.

You driver then takes you to the imperial city called Meknes, where together with your local guide you explore its major highlights. You start at Bab Mansour, pass the triumphal arch, enter Place El-Hedime - Square of Ruins. You then visit the Musée Dar Jamaï - Moroccan art museum, enter the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and the former gardens of the Royal Palace. You also see the El-Mansour gate, decorated with mosaics, and visit the Olive market.

After the tour, you return to your hotel in Fes. The rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 19

Transfer to Merzouga

Early in the morning, you check out from your hotel and meet your driver. Today you are leaving Fes and heading to the Middle Atlas Mountains.

During your 7,5-hour trip, you pass incredible wilderness scenery: rocky sun-baked plains, clad mountains, deep canyons and the scenic Ziz valley. If you are lucky you may even spot Barbary Apes in the Azrou hills.

Approaching the great "sand sea" of Merzouga, you see a beautiful area of fine apricot - colored sand as you pass a unique petite desert town called Erfoud known as the "Gate of Sahara Desert". Upon arrival in Merzouga, you check in your hotel and have dinner. The rest of the day is free.

Day 20

Camel Caravan in the Sahara

Enjoy the breakfast at your hotel and prepare to explore the enchanting Sahara Desert.

In the afternoon, you head off into the vastness of the dunes on a camel caravan accompanied by camelteers. During the 1-hour transfer, you can ride a camel or walk alongside as you slip into the pace of the caravan led by Berber guides and marvel at the spectacle of the desert and the solitude a silence that comes with it.

  • *Note: A camel ride can be replaced by a 4x4 transfer to the camp. Extra charge may apply based on the number of travelers.

You then arrive at the Berber camp where you have dinner. One of the today's highlights is the overnight spent in a deluxe Berber tent.

Day 21

Exploring Todra Gorge

Today you wake up at dawn to see the sun lighting the sand dunes into life. You return to Merzouga from the oasis in the desert to have breakfast.

  • *Note: Facilities to take a shower are available upon request.

Around noon, you meet your driver who transfers you from the desert to the spectacular gorge of Todra - one of the most breathtaking sights in Morocco. The gorge was carved by the Todra river that formed cliff-sided canyons in the mountains. The final 2000 ft of the gorge are stunning as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track, which is as little as 30 ft wide in areas with sheer and smooth rock walls.

After taking a break and enjoying the Todra, your journey continues in the afternoon. Upon arrival in Skoura Oasis you check-in your centrally located hotel for overnight.

Day 22

Driving to Marrakech

Following breakfast at the hotel, you continue your trip. During the exciting 4,5 hour trip, you pass a charming city called Ouarzazate.

Then on to the 15th-century Ait Ben Haddou that is probably the best-preserved fortified Kasbah in Morocco. You get to visit this former trading post set on the banks of a river. It is recognized by its walls of red earth, slit windows and crumbling towers. The location was even used in Hollywood movies such as the Gladiator.

Your dramatic drive of Tizi and Tichka that opens magnificent views of numerous Berber villages, snow-capped mountains, and green valleys, finally brings you to Marrakech in the late afternoon. Upon arrival, you check in to your downtown hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 23

Sightseeing in Marrakesh

After breakfast at the hotel, you set off on an exhilarating sightseeing tour of Marrakesh with your guide and driver. During your 5-hour tour, you see the highlights of the old city.

You begin your walking tour in the old quarter of Marrakech where you enter the 19th century Bahia Palace, covered with colorful tile work, marble and see its eight-hectare gardens with fountains.

Your next stop is the Sadiaan Tombs - marble tombs for the Saadian dynasty, which you get to enter. You then explore the souks, abundant in Berber carpets, silver jewelry, artisan workshops, handmade shoes, and tanneries. Then on to the labyrinth of streets and alleys of the Djemma.

In the afternoon you venture into the new city and visit the Majorelle Gardens - a magical petite garden estate designed by Jacque Majorelle and maintained by Yves Saint Laurent.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 24

Departure from Marrakech

This is the last day of your Spain - Portugal - Morocco tour. After breakfast, you check out from the hotel and meet your driver who transfers you to the airport for your flight back home.
