UK & Ireland Travel Tips

Electricity

Both the UK and Ireland operate on a voltage of 230 volts and a frequency of 50 hertz. This standard is higher than in some countries, so make sure your electronic devices are compatible with this voltage before plugging them in.

The plug outlets are Type G, which have three rectangular prongs in a triangular pattern. These plugs are unique to the UK and Ireland and may not be compatible with plugs from other countries.

Travelers from countries with different plug types will need a plug adapter to use their electronic devices. Carrying a universal adapter is advisable to ensure compatibility with various socket types.

Additionally, most hotels and accommodations in these regions provide adapters or have sockets compatible with multiple plug types for the convenience of international travelers.
