The trip turned out just great. Really!
That was a wonderful itinerary.... really well thought out and just right for our family.
We hit so many of the great destinations. And even though the transit between them was sometimes a bit long, that's the price you pay to see as much as possible in a short stay.
The weather largely cooperated until Bergen. One nasty day there, but.... that's the way it goes (and Bergen is a beautiful city).
I'd recommend an itinerary like "The Definitive Norway" to anyone. Very nice for a private (or even small group) trip.
So, a few comments:
The guides were all very good. No issues with any of them. Particularly liked the guide in Oslo.
Had an issue with the taxi driver in Alesund.
The driver in Geiranger didn't pick us up for the kayak ride. We had to call and he was about an hour late. But.. we still got in a GREAT kayak ride.. good kayak company. Some of us didn't make the museum as a consequence and those who went only had 1/2 hour, but that's not a big deal. We like the outside stuff more anyway.
With all that in mind, though... the logistics team was very helpful. That was much appreciated.
Hotels were generally about what we expected. My one comment.. the hotel in Oslo. Great location and competent staff, but the rooms were tiny, tiny. Just something to think about.
Also... the Dinner Cruise in Oslo. Glad we did it, but... the dinner literally consisted of tiny boiled shrimp and white bread. Not all that impressive - we are still joking about it. The cruise itself was great though.... the 2 hours without dinner would have been every bit as nice. Just for future reference.
And... overall, we are impressed with how well Firebird communicates and conveys the travel info.
My comments are just meant to be helpful, not at all to complain as we were really quite pleased. We would readily use Firebird again.
Thanks so much for all your help!
