The Floibanen Funicular to Mount Floyen
The Floibanen funicular railway is one of Norway's most famous attractions and an absolute "must" while in Bergen. It was officially opened on January 15th, 1918 and has carried millions of travelers since then. It is actually used by the locals living on the mountain as well!
The scenic ride starts at the city center of Bergen, just 150 meters (492 feet) from the Fish Market, and is 844 m (2,769 ft) long. In just a few minutes the funicular train brings travelers to the top of the imposing Mount Floyen.
The unique funicular is an experience in itself, however, upon arriving at the top of the mountain you will be amazed by the fantastic views of the surroundings. At a height of over 320 meters (1050 feet) above sea level, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the city of Bergen and doubtlessly the breathtaking fjordic landscapes.
Attracting a growing number of visitors each year, the funicular ride is a memorable and fun experience, providing some one-of-a-kind views, thus don't miss the chance to give it a go yourself. It's even said that you have not really seen Bergen if you didn't ascend to the city's roof on the Floibanen funicular.
