Upon arrival you are met by your guide who takes you on a city tour of major Tampere attractions. Day 3: Lenin Traces in Helsinki Tour

After breakfast your check out from the hotel. Together with your private guide you go on a wonderful sightseeing tour dedicated to the places where Lenin lived in Helsinki.

Be sure that you will see all major attractions connected with Lenin, including the apartment building where he lived in 1917. Lenin has a presence in Helsinki, particularly in Kallio, a neighborhood with a strong working-class identity.

After the tour you walk to the train station (easily reached by foot) where you board the early high-speed Allegro train that takes you to St. Petersburg in just 3,5 hours. Today you travel along the rails on which, in 1917, a certain Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov made as historic a journey. The line that carried Lenin from the Finnish capital to Peter the Great's city, the former capital of Russia, facilitated the overthrow of one autocracy by another and helped transform Europe.

Upon arrival your guide and driver meet you at the train station and take you to your centrally located hotel for overnight.

Breakfast is included.

Day 4: Lenin's Revolutionary St. Petersburg Tour

Following breakfast you meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby and go on an amazing panoramic city tour around the most cherished gems of St. Petersburg that reflect the Lenin times.

During the tour you see the Finlyandsky Station and the Lenin Monument. The station is most famous for having been the location where Vladimir Lenin returned to Russia from exile in Switzerland on 3 April 1917, ahead of the October Revolution. Afterwards go to Kshesinskaya Mansion which is home to the Museum of Political History.

Then continue to Sestroretsk to see the Lenin Shalash and Saray - the place where Vladimir Lenin and his comrade-in-arms Grigory Zinoviev hid during the summer of 1917 to avoid arrest and prosecution by the Provisional Government. You get to see the Shed Museum (in Russian, Sarai) - a real former shed where Lenin and Zinoviev hid for several days in July 1917, and today there is still a Soviet-era permanent exhibition that recreates the interior of this shed as it looked in 1917. After continue to the Hut Museum (in Russian, Shalash) - a quite large pavilion built in the mid 1960's at the rural site where Lenin and Zinoviev also resided in July 1917 in a hut fashioned from branches and hay.

After the tour you return to the hotel and have the rest of the day free. You may join one of our carefully planned optional tours.

Day 5: Cruiser Aurora & Hermitage

After breakfast you meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby and visit the last house where Lenin had his last secret apartment from where he walked to Smolny in October 1917.

Your tour then continues to Smolny - the building chosen by Vladimir Lenin as Bolshevik headquarters during the October Revolution. It was Lenin's residence for several months, until the national government was moved to the Moscow Kremlin in March 1918.

One of the highlights of the tour is a tour of the Russian cruiser Aurora. The ship was taken over by the Bolsheviks who were preparing for a Communist revolution. At 9.45 p.m on 25 October 1917 a blank shot from her forecastle gun signalled the start of the assault on the Winter Palace, which was to be the beginning of the October Revolution.

Afterwards you go to the legendary Hermitage Museum, that houses its unique collection of world art, including the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, El Greco, Francisco Goya and Thomas Gainsborough, in the halls of the Winter Palace.

After the tour you return to your hotel. In the evening you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Ekaterinburg.

Breakfast is included.

Upon arrival you are taken to your hotel for overnight.

Breakfast is included.

Day 7: Exile of the Tsars to Tobolsk Tour

Today following breakfast you check out from the hotel. Together with your guide you go on a day tour of Tobolsk - the city to which the Russian royal family was exiled to from Tsarskoe Selo shortly after the revolution. The distant and desolate region of Siberia was a prison to the family.

The Volga Dream Cruise met or even exceeded our expectations

I really enjoyed the trip. We were very pleased with the hotels in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The accommodations were good and the breakfasts were lavish. Our impressions of the Russian cruise program and Scandinavia

Our trip was really great. The Russian tour was sometimes "too much information". Especially in the Moscow area. The visit to Red Square was restricted by a massive stage structure erected for a choral performance by a very large choir. I enjoyed the singing although unable to understand Russian, but some of our group were ...
